Matt Robinson

Group Editor

Matt has a background in motoring journalism of the four-wheeled variety but has long had a passion for motorbikes, taking his first steps into riding in 2010. Starting his career writing various specialist car magazines including BMW Car, Land Rover Owner and Retro Cars, Matt soon moved to the world of online journalism, taking a staff job at then-up-and-coming title Car Throttle.

Matt worked his way up to the position of editor over the next few years, and sensing an interest in the world of two wheels amidst the audience, he began testing motorcycles as well as cars. After departing for a year-and-a-half stint at then-sister title Auto Express as deputy executive editor, Matt rejoined CT following its purchase by Crash Media, sitting across CT and Visordown as group editor.

Alongside audience development and managerial duties on Visordown, Matt’s heavily involved in testing both motorcycles and bike kit, riding many thousands of miles a year to help readers decide how best to spend their money. And also because, let’s face it, riding a motorcycle is fantastic fun.

Matt’s main area of expertise is middleweight bikes, be they of the naked, faired or adventure variety, but he’ll happily sling a leg over any motorcycle to see if it’s any good. Anything Italian with a fruity exhaust note particularly piques his interest.

When not at work, you’ll probably find Matt looking up tatty old KTM 990 SMTs and Ducati ST2s on eBay, riding mountain bikes or boring people about his old Yamaha TRX and how “it had the first production 270-degree crank parallel twin, don’t you know?”
