Honda’s new CB1000GT turns the Hornet into a full-fat Fireblade-powered sports tourer built for big miles.

Sports touring with the heart of a Hornet - the Honda CB1000GT arrives for 2026. A high-speed, high-comfort sports tourer aimed squarely at riders who want one bike to do it all.

The CB1000GT takes the CB1000 Hornet as its base, adds touring legs, and turns up the spec sheet to eleven. Power comes from a retuned 1,000cc inline-four, which can trace its DNA back to the CBR1000RR Fireblade. In GT trim, it’s producing 147.6 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 75 lb ft of torque at 8,750 rpm.

Adding some tech to the chassis is Showa’s electronically controlled suspension (Showa-EERA), which comes as standard. The system constantly adjusts the damping to suit conditions and rider input. There are five riding modes to choose from: Sport, Rain, Tour, Standard and User, with the IMU-managed Cornering ABS keeping everything in check when things get interesting. Dual 310mm front discs and radial-mount Nissin calipers provide stopping power at the front end, with a Nissin single-piston caliper and 240 mm disc taking care of the rear.

The fairing of the new CB1000GT is said to have been sculpted using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to optimise wind protection and stability, while a one-hand adjustable five-position screen helps tailor airflow on the move. The subframe is different from the CB1000 Hornet, being larger and more robust, both to make room for the rider and passenger, but also to cope with the weight of both plus any luggage. Ergonomically, the handlebars and pegs are positioned for relaxed, upright touring.

Standard kit includes heated grips, cruise control, a quickshifter, knuckle guards, and a centre stand. The detachable panniers (37 litres on the left and 28 on the right) also come as standard, which is a welcome touch from Honda. The five-inch optically bonded TFT display brings smartphone connectivity via Honda RoadSync, allowing turn-by-turn navigation, calls and music through a Bluetooth headset. Honda Smart Key ignition and auto-cancelling indicators with an Emergency Stop Signal round off the tech list.

Styling is the result of collaboration between Honda’s Italian and Japanese design studios, and it shows. The CB1000GT looks every bit the ‘executive express’ Honda says it is, with angular bodywork and a purposeful stance that hints at its Fireblade DNA. All lighting is LED, and the fairing is made from Durabio, a plant-based bio-material, while recycled plastics are used in the seat bases – a nod to Honda’s sustainability goals.

Under the skin, the steel diamond-style frame comes from the Hornet, although with geometry tweaks for stability and handling when fully loaded, and the cast aluminium Pro-Link swingarm has been lengthened from 619mm to 635mm to help with high-speed composure. Seat height is a manageable 825mm, and the bike tips the scales at 229kg wet. As for range, Honda claims 16.5km per litre (around 38mpg) from the 21-litre tank, giving a potential 210 miles between fill-ups.

Electronic management is handled by a six-axis IMU working in harmony with Throttle By Wire. Riders can tweak power delivery, engine braking and traction control through the modes or set up their own combination in the customisable User mode. The system is designed to give the GT genuine duality – relaxed touring manners when you want them, sportbike sharpness when you don’t.

Three colours will be available at launch – Grand Prix Red with extended Graphite Black livery, Pearl Deep Mud Grey, and Graphite Black. It’ll be landing in European and UK dealerships in February 2026 and will be priced at £11,999.

As ever, Honda’s accessory list is comprehensive. The Comfort Pack adds a taller screen, fog lights and plush seats. The Sports Pack sharpens things visually with a belly pan, decals and wheel stripes. And for commuters or tourers, the Urban Pack includes a 50-litre top box, rear carrier and pads. All accessories can be bought separately if you want to mix and match.

The 2026 Honda CB1000GT looks like a natural evolution of the Hornet platform, bridging the gap between full-fat tourers and sporty nakeds. Think of it like the Fireblade’s distant cousin, with a backpack and a map of the Alps.
