Buzz Lightyear’s Bike Sells for $25,500
The 2015 Darwin Motorcycles Brawler GT-R was commissioned by the actor Tim Allen, who also had a big hand in its development
A bike owned and partially created by the actor who portrayed Buzz Lightyear has recently sold, as Tim Allen’s Brawler GT-R from Darwin Motorcycles leaves his collection.
The bike was completed in 2015, and reportedly came about after Darwin built a similar machine for the pop star Usher. This prompted Allen, who is a notorious petrolhead and passionate biker, to contact the firm about building his own example. And he didn’t just request the bike and pick the colour – it’s said in the listing that Allen was instrumental in the bike’s creation, personally choosing many of the parts and components and helping to define its specifications.
The heart of the performance cruiser is a thumping 124ci (2032cc) S&S Cycle T-Series V-twin paired with a six-speed Rivera Primo transmission. The powertrain is cradled in a custom-built tubular frame, which is crowned at the front by a top-spec Ohlins fully adjustable fork, and Ohlins twin shocks at the rear. Helping to haul the substantial machine up from speed are frankly ginormous six-piston ISR calipers which bite down on fully floating EBC discs.
Further performance jewellery comes in the form of drool-worthy BST carbon fibre wheels, which are joined by carbon fibre side panels and mudguards, and a number of CNC billet parts like stubby levers and bar end mirrors.
The bike has just sold via a dealer in Georgia, eventually changing hands for the sum of $25,500. Given the bike's connection to a Hollywood star (and talking toy!) and the fact it has just 243 miles on its bores, that doesn’t sound like a lot of money for such a unique machine.
