Crowdfunding begins as insurance firm refuses Hegarty payout
Justgiving page set up to help Mr Hegarty's two children
A crowdfunding page has been set up in memory of Dan Hegarty after his insurance company failed to pay out following his death in Macau last year.
Mr Hegarty left behind partner Lucy and sons Evan (aged 10) and Flynn (aged three) when he died but his life insurance didn't not cover him as the incident occurred outside of Europe - which is an utterly disgraceful reason to not stump up.
“Daniel was a talented, committed motorcycle racer but firstly and always he was a devoted father to his two young sons," said Mr Hegarty's brother Joe.
“After Daniel’s life insurance refused to pay out because of his death happening out of Europe, This JustGiving page is to raise money for a trust fund for Daniel’s two young boys to help them in the future where unfortunately their father can‘t.”
