DirtQuake set to grow in magnitude after acquisition by North One Television
UK event now over two days, with coverage on TV and more events planning in Europe and US
NORTH ONE Television has today announced that it’s bought the DirtQuake brand and event, and has big plans to grow the irreverent, alternative UK bike festival into a global presence.
If you’re not familiar with DirtQuake it works like this: once a year in Norfolk dirt bike fans and racers, grease monkeys, celebrities, custom shop owners and designers, speed freaks, weekend warriors and anyone curious come together to celebrate bikes, with irreverent dirt track racing on taking centre stage.
Now, DirtQuake is set to grow as North One intends to hold races in the UK, Europe and US in 2017/18, with events taking place on mud, snow and sand, and being broadcast on television.
The firm has a deal in place with ITV and says it has multiple sponsors coming on-board – both of which will allow it to grow DirtQuake globally in the coming years.
The next DirtQuake is a two-day event at King’s Lynn, Norfolk, on Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9 2017. It’ ll be the first event to receive television coverage, with a one-hour special planned for ITV4 at 8pm, on Wednesday July 12.
Riders appearing at this year’s event will include World Superbike champions Carl Fogarty and Neil Hodgson, alongside 23-time Isle of Man TT winner John McGuinness and DirtQuake veteran Guy Martin.
Gary Inman, founder of DirtQuake (and bike industry veteran) said:
'I’m very pleased that a business with the track record of North One has recognised what’s great about DirtQuake and I’m confident they are the right people to take it to the next level. We have had five amazing years growing this event from nothing, primarily for fun, and I’m very proud of what it’s become and will go on to. I’ll be staying on as a creative consultant to help North One grow DirtQuake into something very special.'
