Ducati bidding to regain Pikes Peak title
It's Climb, Dance again for Ducati as it tries to claim back the Pikes Peak title from KTM
DUCATI will try to regain the Pikes Peak title lost to KTM last year and is calling on the services of Carlin Dunne and Codie Vahsholtz to make it happen.
The Bologna firm used to be king of the hill and has now made a new Pikes Peak edition of the Multistrada to claim back the crown from the Austrian manufacturer and its Super Duke R.
Dunne was the first rider to make it to the top at Pikes Peak in under ten minutes and is a former record-holder at the event. Vahsholtz is the reigning middleweight record-holder.
Both riders will be astride the new Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak Edition. In terms of competition trying to break Ducati’s lost record, Professional AMA Superbike racer Chris Fillmore took the outright two-wheeler record, last year, with a run of 9’49.625 aboard the KTM 1290 Super Duke R.
The new Pikes Peak edition is powered by a new Euro-IV-compliant 1262cc engine seen across the Multistrada 1260 range, putting out 158bhp at 9500rpm and 129 torques at 7500rpm. The racebikes will also have Ohlins suspension at both ends, a Terrywogan exhaust system, a bi-directional quick-shifter, cornering ABS and carbon-fibre windscreen, front mudguard and air intake covers.
