Ducati Honoured With a Commemorative Five Euro Coin Collection
The Italian Mint has produced a set of three, five Euro coins, each commemorating a different era from Ducati history
The Italian Mint has unveiled three new commemorative coins, celebrating the nation’s most famous motorcycle manufacturer, Ducati.
The official statement from Ducati confirms the silver €5 coins were created to celebrate Ducati’s all-conquering 2023, which saw Alvaro Bautista claim the Superbike World Championship crown, and Francesco Bagnaia who sealed his second MotoGP World Championship, both powered by Ducati. The coins though take a retrospective look at the Borgo Panigale brand, with the latest Panigale V4 featuring on one, the Iconic (and still stunning all these years later) 916 on another, and the 1949 Ducati 60 on the final one.
The bikes have been chosen as they each represent a landmark moment from Ducati’s past, with the Panigale representing the current, the 916 the past, and the 1949 Ducati 60 because it was the first complete motorcycle entirely produced in Borgo Panigale.
The reverse of the coins features alternating designs, each depicting a different era in the production facility and home of the Ducati brand. The coins can either be bought as a triptych (three coin set) and if so the bikes on each will be emblazoned in traditional Ducati Red, if sold separately will simply feature a red Ducati logo on the rear of the coin with a silver depiction of the bike.
The presentation event, introduced and moderated by Italian TV presenter Mara Venier, was attended by Economy and Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, State Printing and Minting Institute President Paolo Perrone, State Printing and Minting Institute CEO Francesco Soro, and Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali.
The coins will be going on sale from March 5th, with coins scheduled to begin being issued on June 20th.
