Honda say the V4 engine will be at the heart of future models

HONDA HAVE just unveiled this new V4 concept bike to the world's motorcycle press at the Cologne Show.

Full details are scant right now but the general gist of the presentation was to emphasise that the V4 engine will be at the heart of future models from Honda - possibly the new Blade and most definitely the new VFR.

There's been much speculation over the last few months by certain publications that Honda were going to release a V5-engined VFR, with push-button Ferrari-style gearchange but this has now been proved to be utter fantasy.

Honda UK:

'With 2008 marking Honda’s 60th anniversary as a company and 2009 celebrating the 50th anniversary of Honda’s participation in road racing, as well as the 30th anniversary of racing with an innovative 4-cylinder V-engine with oval pistons, Honda is today proud to unveil a World Premier V4 concept model, which signifies the beginning of a new era and design direction for the marque’s motorcycles based on Honda’s trademark 4-cylinder V-engine.
