MotoFest Coventry has been indefinitely postponed due to the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September.

MotoFest Coventry 2022 was originally supposed to take place on 10-11 September - that's this upcoming weekend - but the announcement yesterday (8 September 2022) of the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96 has meant that the event's organisers have been forced to postpone the event.

A statement from MotoFest Coventry reads as follows:

"MotoFest would like to express how deeply saddened we are at the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with the King and Royal Family at this time.

"Following consultation with our event partners Coventry City Council and E.ON Drive, we have agreed, in line with protocols regarding the death of a monarch, to postpone this weekend's MotoFest festival.

"The postponement will extend to all supporting events set to be staged as part of the MotoFest weekend. We would like to thank all our sponsors, partners, supporters and the general public for all their continued support and understanding.

"There will be further updates in due course regarding future dates for the event."

The 2022 MotoFest Coventry will take place in the Coventry (believe it or not) city centre, a location which has an undoubted motorcycling and manufacturing pedigree and history.

Returning for this year in partnership with E.ON Drive, MotoFest Coventry 2022 will begin with the Ride In which will kick the event off. The Ride In will start from Draycote Water and arrive at the Sprint Circuit in the city centre at the finish. If you wish to take part in the Ride In yourself, you can find out more on the MotoFest Coventry Facebook page

Following on from the Ride In, the festival will feature “dynamic displays from an array of ex-competition and sports motorcycles on the unique City Centre Sprint Circuit,” according to a release by MotoFest Coventry.

Additionally, MotoFest Coventry 2022 will be the first edition of MotoFest to feature electric motorcycles. The location of the event makes Maeving - which itself is based out of Coventry and builds its RM1 motorcycle there - an obvious centrepiece for this inaugural electric showcase.

Over on Greyfriars Green will be the new Motorcycle Village which “will include static motorcycle displays, individuals and club displays and the MotoFest Classic and Custom Motorcycle Show - with trophies awarded across a number of categories,” according to MotoFest Coventry.

Finally, there will be live music, and a celebration of “anything else with a connection to Coventry, transport and the city’s motoring heritage,” MotoFest Coventry says.
