Steve McQueen’s 1971 Husqvarna at auction
Own the King of Cool's Husqvarna 250 crosser...if you have $50,000
STEVE McQueen’s 1971 Husqvarna Moto-Cross 250 is currently up for auction.
The bike has a starting bid of $50,000 and comes with the original invoice from Med-International Husqvarna dealer.
Dated October 19th 1971, the invoice is addressed to Solar Productions, McQueen’s production company, for a total price of $898. A note at the bottom of the invoice says 'Ship to Valerians for Steve to have picked up.'
It is unclear from the Invaluable auction ad whether or not the motorcycle was used in any films.
The ad states: ‘This Husqvarna 250 Cross is just like the bike McQueen rode at Lake Elsinore when he competed and raced at in 1970 and 1971 in “expert” class.’
Other than some paint loss on the front fender, the motorcycle has been fully restored and ‘remains in excelling running condition.’
The last Steve McQueen Husqvarna that sold at auction in 2011, a 1971 400 Cross model, set a world record when it sold for $144,500.
Other McQueen items also going up for auction include his personal sunglasses that have a starting bid of $20,000 and his Gulf racing jacket starting at $80,000. Both items featured in his film Le Mans.
