Ultra exclusive Bimota Tesi H2 up for eye-watering auction price

A barely-ridden Bimota Tesi H2 is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby's in France, and is expected to fetch up to almost £70,000

A Bimota Tesi H2 Carbon could be yours for a very reasonable price at an RM Sotheby's auction in France.

We say ‘very reasonable’ because it’s true… assuming you have €50,000 to spend on a bonkers supercharged hyperbike. And that’s just the bottom end of the estimate. Sotheby's has the Tesi H2 down for between €50,000 and €80,000, or between £43,000 and £69,000. The upper limit would match the price of a Ducati Diavel for Bentley - not that you can buy one of those anymore.

The Bimota H2 Tesi is a perfect example of Bimota’s work. Take a Japanese engine, and put it in a more interesting motorcycle. That’s not to say that the Kawasaki Ninja H2 from which the Tesi H2 takes its engine is dull, it’s just slightly more ordinary. That engine provides the Tesi H2 with 231 supercharged horses and a manageable 104lb ft.

The particular example listed by Sotheby's does kind of nod towards Kawasaki with the green paint (which we reckon - as much as we love a Tricolore - is a better look than the ‘standard’ red-white-green paint) on its angular, aggressive carbon bodywork, but the Italian bike’s front swingarm and hub centre steering setup - one typical of Bimota - certainly distinguishes it from its immediate ancestor.

Only 250 of these bikes were made, and this one has seen particularly little use from its solitary owner. The odometer is in kilometres, and reads ‘351’, meaning 218 miles. It’s practically factory fresh, then, and even had a service as recently as August 2023.
