Visordown Round-Up | Honda teases new crossover and brake pad recall
That was the week that was... here is a Visordown Round-up of the big news in the motorcycle industry over the last seven days
It’s been a busy week in the motorcycle industry with new bikes and a motorcycle recall that could affect you hitting the headlines, plus finally some good news for those missing the racing season
Earlier this week, motorcycles using certain Brembo brake pads - relating to the BRM10B compound line - are being recalled over potentially defective brake pads .
The presence of the Nickel in the pads can lead to the compound becoming porous, allowing moisture and humidity to affect the performance of the pads. The build-up of moisture can cause corrosion which in some places can cause the friction material to detach from the mounting plate of the brake pad, in turn causing catastrophic brake failure.
As Brembo supplies pads as original equipment, manufacturers will issue the recall and contact affected owners - more information HERE
Also, this week, patents filed in Europe revealed the Honda CB4X crossover is on its way to production, months after a concept model was unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan.
Described by Honda at the time as combining elements of sport and tourer, the as-yet-unnamed model is set to feature an inline-four 650cc engine and go up against the popular Kawasaki Versys 650 and the new Yamahas Tracer 700.
Meanwhile, racing fans may be able to start planning their racing calendars after Dorna announced it is close to finalising a deal that will see the 2020 MotoGP season finally get underway in July.
The season has been put on hold as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but having originally targeted a start date of August in Austria, it has come to a provisional agreement with the Jerez circuit in Spain to hold two races on back-to-back weekends starting on July 19.
