Waldmann MZ buyout confirmed

LIKE WITH so many other motorcycle stories around the world, Visordown was the first to tell you about secret plans by former GP stars Ralph Waldmann and Martin Wimmer to buy the MZ motorcycle brand - and now it's official, the pair have got their hands on the famous biking brand.

The deal was done yesterday (Tuesday) for what is thought to be four or five million Euros. The cash is being put up by the Hong Leong Group and the high-profile pair will be joined in the new MZ boardroom by Dr Martin Hager, Helmut Lichtenberg and Otto Elbers.
Wimmer will take over the role of MZ Managing Director with immediate effect.

There are already rumours that the firm is going to produce a 600cc road bike based on the Moto2 GP project bike already well on the way to being finished.
