Wales to restart motorcycle training, CBT, and motorcycle testing
The Welsh government has confirmed dates for CBT centres and motorcycle testing and training schools to reopen
AFTER what must feel like an age, riders in Wales can look forward to getting back on top of their motorcycle training, as CBT centres and motorcycle testing and training centres can reopen.

The DVSA confirmed that motorcycle lessons and CBT schools can reopen on March 29th, with motorcycle testing centres due to open their doors on April 12th. Theory testing is also set to resume in Wales on the same date.
The dates announced are the same as the scheduled dates for testing and training to resume in England, although that will only remain the case if the public health position remains favourable. The lead time between training and testing restarting is to allow riders the necessary time to train, prior to taking their test.
Motorcycle training and testing in England have been suspended since November last year. The PM had originally slated for them to close until at least December 2020, although as we now know, that was not going to be the case.
The situation was especially bad for riders on a CBT certificate, who were effectively hung out to dry by the government. Despite repeat calls from lobby groups such as the MCIA and the general biking public, no extension was offered to riders whose CBTs had expired within the lockdown, more or less pushing them off the roads.
