You’re not seeing double: Marc Marquez is back on track in Portimao
A Repsol Honda Team video shows Marc Marquez kitted up and riding at Portimao, as doctors continue monitoring his diplopia symptoms.
After being left with symptoms of diplopia (or double vision) after reportedly crashing out of a motocross training day in 2021, 8-time MotoGP champ Marc Marquez has been spotted out on track at Portimao, Portugal.
A Repsol Honda Racing Team post shows the Spaniard continuing his rehabilitation in the best way possible, track time on an RC213V-S.
The Spaniard initially faced a diplopia diagnosis back in 2011 whilst he was competing in Moto2, and the incident that forced him to miss out on the last two MotoGP races of 2021 was a recurrence of this injury - and for that reason, doctors were unsure how long his symptoms and recovery would take.

MM93 has had his fair share of racing injuries in recent years, the most significant of which being his broken arm that saw the 2020 season a write-off - but not after attempting to get back out on track before his injury had its time to heal.
It seems you just can’t keep Marc Marquez off of two-wheels!
This isn’t his first outing in 2022 - he returned to two-wheels for the first time in 2022 on a motocross bike earlier this month, as you can see on this official HRC YouTube video.
There will be plenty more tests, assessments & diagnoses for Marquez to jump through before the 2022 MotoGP season gets underway, and track day tests are worlds away from a full race at the highest level.
Pre-season tests kick off in Sepang in the first official test on the 5th of February, and following that on the 8th of February Repsol Honda will be launching the RC213V.
Whether we’ll see the ‘Ant of Cervera’ at either of these remains to be seen - but until then, he’ll simply be enjoying being back atop a Honda!
