Galfer Moto press day a huge success

Galfer Moto hosted an event for some of Europe’s top motorcycle journalists to visit the brake component factory, and to test Galfer products on the latest KTM motorcycles.

The two-day event took place on June 26 and 27, and was organised for some of Europe's most experienced motorcycle journalists. No pressure then…

The event started with a visit to the factory in Granollers (Barcelona, Spain) and culminated with a grueling brake test is some pretty extreme conditions.

During day one of the factory visit, the journalists watched the manufacturing process of brake pads consisting of two different technologies (semi-metallic and sintered metal), as well as the laser cutting of the ‘Disc Wave®’ disc brakes, which are patented by GALFER. They also attended a live braking test with a dynamometer, where the brake disc reached a maximum temperature of 680ºC!

Finally, the journalists had a look at the different quality processes that apply to the production of brake components and met the engineers in charge of the RDI (research and development + inspection) department, who showed them some of the new disc prototypes that will soon hit the market. Juicy stuff indeed.

On the second, more action-packed day, the journalists had a play on some KTM’s fitted with Galfer braking equipment through the Montseny range (around 150 km). The part used were: the new sintered brake pads Sport Racing G1375R and the different versions of GALFER brake discs (Disc Wave®, KTM Wave Powerparts, and round discs).

All the test bikes were provided by KTM España and among them, were two 1290 Adventure’s, two Duke 790’s, one Super Duke GT and one 790 Adventure. Also, It’s worth mentioning, that despite the intense 42 ºC heat the brakes performed flawlessly, which is no surprise when you consider Galfer’s racing pedigree.

A pedigree that ‘Ready to Race’ KTM has trusted for 15-years, as Galfer is their sole brake disc provider.
