GasGas joins KTM, Husqvarna on new 'Lifetime' cover for street bikes
KTM and Husqvarna have both announced new 'Lifetime Mobility Service' cover for their respective street motorcycle ranges.
KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas have all announced new ‘lifetime’ mobility cover for their customers buying from the street ranges of any of the brands.
As part of the Pierer Mobility Group, KTM and Husqvarna tend to do things somewhat in-sync so it was not entirely a surprise to see Husqvarna match KTM’s ‘lifetime’ mobility cover offer for its street bike customers. Now, GasGas has also joined its fellow PMG members in offering the same cover on its own street range, which includes the ES 700 and SM 700 motorcycles.
The offer is open to both the Republic of Ireland and United Kingdom markets, and to both new and existing customers from either KTM or Husqvarna’s range of street motorcycles. For KTM in particular, this means coverage of quite the range of bikes, from the RC 125 through to the 1290 Super Adventure R, for example.
The way the new cover, called KTM Lifetime Mobility Service (or Husqvarna or GasGas, depending on the brand of the owner’s bike, of course), works is that each time a bike is serviced at a KTM-authorised dealer, the cover is extended by 12 months, or until the next scheduled service.
The offer also applies to second-hand KTM, GasGas and Husqvarna motorcycles, even those with lapsed or no service history, with a service enabling the activation of one year of KTM Lifetime Mobility.
The cover means KTM, GasGas and Husqvarna owners with the Lifetime Mobility cover have access to a network of service providers which is present across Europe, as well as an emergency call centre which KTM says is manned 24 hours a day.
Specific benefits of the Lifetime Mobility Service include coverage of breakdowns, vandalism, theft, attempted theft, and fire. Additionally, its offered assistance includes on-the-spot repairs, towing, storage, key service, and sourcing replacement parts.
Further, should a covered bike in need of repair be unable to be sufficiently repaired to continue and complete its journey, KTM says the Lifetime Mobility Service includes a ‘Trip Continuation’ feature, which “covers the costs of the journey for rider and passenger from the place of a breakdown to the planned destination or alternatively to the rider’s place of residence by either, taxi, rental car, train or flight, depending on the distance to the destination,” KTM says (terms and conditions apply).
Important things to note are KTM’s definitions of the term ‘Lifetime’. For single-cylinder bikes, this means 60,000km, or eight years, whichever comes first; and or twin-cylinder bikes, this means 80,000km, or eight years, whichever comes first. These also apply to the Husqvarna Lifetime Mobility Service and the GasGas Lifetime Mobility Service.
