A recall has been issued for the Honda XL750 Transalp, owing to an issue with the spring of an accessory stand.

The issue relates to the central spring of the Main Stand accessory, which can fail. The failure can occur with the stand in either the raised or lowered position, meaning during riding or while stationary.

During riding, the failure can mean the stand itself drags along the floor, while if the stand fails while stationary it will, of course, result in the motorcycle falling over. Either result is, fairly obviously, undesired.

The recall has been issued in Europe, where the issue has been flagged in motorcycles built between January 24 2023 and December 1 2023.

According to the German publication Motorrad, affected Transalp owners in Germany will be contacted within 14 days by Honda’s German division. The repair required to fix the issue with the accessory will be made free of charge.

In the UK, no recall is currently showing on the DVLA database. Visordown has contacted Honda UK regarding the possibility of a UK recall and we are awaiting confirmation.

The main stand is an add-on that can be bought as an accessory to the Honda XL750 Transalp from Honda’s original accessories catalogue for £195 in the UK.

The recall’s reasoning being over an accessory means that any Honda XL750 Transalp owners who have not opted for the Main Stand accessory can continue with their middleweight adventurer with no more concern for its condition than they had before.
