It’s expected that Fantic Motor will benefit by boosting electric options for their future range.

MOTORI MINARELLI has finally been fully acquired by Fantic Motor, after finalising the deal to secure the company from Yamaha. It’s likely that the Fantic Motor factory will now be working closely with the Italian motor-builder for the future of their planned electric range.

Motori Minarelli are well known for producing the 125cc and 50cc motors that have found a home in a range of models for years - the Yamaha MT125 and R125 are the most recent single cylinders from their factory - now it seems some of their future output may involve swapping gears for batteries.

The deal for Fantic to take full control of Motori Minarelli has been in progress for months now, and the acquisition buys Yamaha out of their previous deal. This will mean the engine experts at the Motori Minarelli factory will have the chance to turn their efforts to electrifying their motors for the future market with Fantic, as well continuing their service with Sherco, Beta, Rieju and Yamaha.

This Italian affair has thus secured two well established manufacturers their future in the market, where they will be turning their hand to work in collaboration to create new motorcycles for the buzzing electric industry, with both Italy and Europe (and beyond) in mind.

Fantic Motor CEO, Mariano Roman, was quoted here:

“The strengthening of the partnership with Yamaha Motor Europe and the acquisition of Motori Minarelli represent for Fantic Motor an important step to further reinforce our position as a technological leader in the production of motorcycles, e-bikes and e-mobility products in Italy.”

“We will work together to further increase Motori Minarelli’s know how on engines and e-powertrain, widen the production range, to offer to Motori Minarelli’s customers competitive, cutting edge technology powertrains, while safeguarding the current employment levels”.

Fantic Motors have been working with Motori Minarelli for quite some time - since around 1970 - when they were providing single cylinder motors for the now-classic Fantic range. There is potential here for Fantic to create some stylish electric motorcycles in the future, plus e-bikes and e-mobility for the Italian market and beyond.

It’ll be interesting to see what these two Italian manufacturers can create together - perhaps we’ll see an electric scrambler in the works? It may take a few years, but we’re certainly excited.
