KTM launches 990 RC R Cup — grassroots racing, orange-style
KTM is launching the 990 RC R Cup in 2026, giving everyday riders the chance to swap track days for proper racing on Europe’s best circuits and no factory contract required.
KTM is bringing its new 990 RC R Cup to Europe in spring 2026, offering riders a way to go racing without the usual headaches, costs, or pressure of chasing lap records.
The series aims to bridge the gap between spirited track days and full-blown competition, giving everyday riders the chance to race on some of Europe’s top circuits aboard KTM’s new middleweight missile.
The Cup will feature six rounds across major European tracks, and entry will be limited to 35 riders. Competitors will be split across two categories — one for the street-homologated 990 RC R, and another for the track-only 990 RC R TRACK. Within those, there’ll be two age divisions: Rookie Class for riders aged 18–34, and Masters Class for those 35 and older.
Riders can either sign up for the full season or book individual race entries, with a parts package available for those who want the full race-ready setup. Bookings open on 6 November 2025, and judging by KTM’s usual fanbase, spots are likely to fill fast.
One standout feature of the 990 RC R Cup is the factory-level support on offer. KTM’s professional riders will be present at each round, lending advice and coaching to help competitors get the most out of themselves — and the bike. This isn’t a “find the next MotoGP star” type of event, but rather a chance for KTM loyalists to experience real racing with a bit of factory backing and community spirit thrown in.
It’s not about fame or fast-tracking to a pro career, it’s about living the racing dream in a setting that encourages growth, learning, and a few good-natured elbows on the way into turn one.
