2024 Yamaha RayZR scooter is stupidly light
The 2024 Yamaha RayZR is the lightest scooter from the Iwata marque yet, entering into the European 125cc category from next year
The Yamaha RayZR is a new scooter model for the European market in 2024, and offers a low weight with 125cc accessibility.
The RayZR model has been around for a while, globally speaking, having launched in Asian markets back in 2021, but it will be making its European debut in 2024.
Although the RayZR looks as though Yamaha has tried to ‘MT-ify’ a scooter with those large intake-looking sidepods on either side, the philosophy of the model is somewhat different. While Yamaha lists “sporty looks” as part of its appeal, it also mentions “reliability” and “simplicity” in the same context.
The RayZR tips the scales at only 99kg and is powered by a Euro5-compliant 125cc engine that implements a stop-start system to improve fuel consumption by “up to four per cent,” Yamaha says, as well as a new ‘Smart Motor’ generator to keep noise on starting to a minimum. 8bhp is the maximum power output, along with 7lb ft.
The chassis makes use of a telescopic front fork, unit swing-type rear suspension, a single front brake disc, a rear drum brake, and tubeless tyres in 90/90-12 and 110/90-10 front and rear, respectively.
European pricing has not been announced at the time of writing. Along with the aforementioned ‘sporty looks’, ‘reliability’, and ‘simplicity’, though, Yamaha also mentions “low-price” among the RayZR’s attributes, so it shouldn’t break the bank.
Although pricing remains unknown, the 2024 Yamaha RayZR will be available from March 2024 in the Anodised Red and Midnight Black paint schemes.
