The 2025 Honda MSX125 Grom Has a New Look
Honda has lightly revised the pint-sized A1 bike for the 2025 model year and added a whole host of available accessories
The Honda MSX125 Grom has long been the most adorable way to get around with L-plates, but its manufacturer has sought to make it a little less cute with what it calls a “sportier look” to replace its previously more retro aesthetic.
There’s a completely new and “sharply defined” tank cover with knee cutouts, plus fresh side panels and a tiny belly pan. The thing is, with its distinctive (and diminutive) proportions remaining, plus the retention of the old LED headlight cluster and seat unit, it might take you a moment or two to recognise whether the Grom riding past you in the middle of London is the pre or post-facelift bike.
We’ve felt the need, then, to stick the two together in one image - the new bike is at the bottom, in case you’re wondering.
Mechanically, nothing has changed, so there’s still a 125cc air-cooled, two-valve single-cylinder engine developing 10bhp and 7.7lb ft of torque. That’s quite a way under the permitted maximum outputs for an A1 bike, but the little single doesn’t have much in the way of mass to propel, with the MSX125 tipping the scales at just over 100kg.
The chassis uses 12-inch wheels front and rear as before, plus a 31mm thick upside-down fork, a monoshock and a braking system using a dual-piston front calliper and single-piston rear working on 220mm and 190mm discs respectively.
So far, so familiar, but you do get a whole bunch of new accessories to choose from, bundled into two packs. The Comfort Pack includes knuckle shields and a dark-tinted visor, while the Travel Pack comes with saddlebags with a total volume of 10 litres and a rear luggage base to which you can add a rear seat bag offering 15 to 22 litres of space. Any of these items can be purchased individually if preferred.
There’s no word on when the refreshed MSX125 Grom will arrive in the UK, nor how much it costs, but to give you an idea, the previous RRP was £3,899. Expect the new bike to be somewhere around that mark. We've long considered the outgoing bike to be one of the best 125 motorcycles around, and that'll surely remain the case with the new version.
