Aprilia reveals new special edition RS 660 Extrema for 2023
Aprilia has announced the new RS 660 Extrema, a special edition of its middleweight sports bike with added performance and reduced weight.
Aprilia has announced a special version of the RS 660, called the Extrema, which will be available from 2023.
The Aprilia RS 660 has been successful since its introduction a few years ago, especially in America where it has found racing success in the Super Twins class of MotoAmerica.
To celebrate that success, Aprilia made a special edition of the bike which featured a paint scheme with the colours of the US flag, and now there is a new special edition RS 660.
The RS 660 Extrema takes its name from the RS125R Extrema from the 1990s which was one of the more extreme eighth-litre sports bikes developed in a time where Aprilia found significant success in the 125cc World Championship, winning their first title (with a prototype 125, of course, not an Extrema) in the Extrema’s first year of production, 1992, and a second in its final year of production, 1994.
The RS 660 might not be a Grand Prix racer, but it does have decent sporting credentials, with its aforementioned success on the closed circuits of the US.
This Extrema version weighs 166kg, features a new exhaust from SC-Project with a carbon silencer, other carbon components (including the exhaust bracket, front mudguard and belly pan), a single-seat fairing, and an electronic option to set the quickshifter up for a reversed shifting pattern (‘race shift’).
This means that the orientation of the shifting pattern can be changed without removing any parts, instead adjusting it simply through the bike’s ECU, which is a handy feature if you like to ride your bike to the track day.
The RS 660 Extrema will be available from 2023 in a new white and red colour scheme.
