Can-Am is dipping a toe back into the adventure biking segment, and judging by its latest social media post, the finished bike might not be that far away.

Can-Am does have form when it comes to off-road motorcycles (of the two-wheeled kind), it’s just quite possible that many of you are too young to remember it. Indeed, Can-Am’s impact on motocross, mostly across the pond, was significant, if fairly short-lived. The end of the Canadian firm’s time in the sector came in 1987, when its last bike, the 250cc ASE, was widely ridiculed by the off-road motorcycle press.

What followed was a period of building quad bikes, ATVs (also known as side-by-side off-roaders) and funky on-road three-wheelers with two wheels at the front and one at the back. In that sphere, the Bombardier-owned brand has been successful, becoming a class leader in pretty much every niche mentioned.

It seems, though, that there is still a two-wheeled itch that Can-Am wishes to scratch, and it’s using the lightweight electric motorcycle sector to scratch it. We’ve known about this bike for some time now, although this latest video shows the bike is not far away, as it gets battered by an endurance testing rig!

The bike in question is the Can-Am Origin, one half of the firm’s electric offering with the other being the on-road Pulse. Actual specs and details relating to range, power, torque and recharging times are at this time unknown, although some are reporting a range of approximately 100 miles.

What we can tell you is that the Can-Am website is still pointing to a launch before the end of 2024, so we might get a sneak peek at the models at the biggest bike show of them all in November - EICMA.
