SUZUKI France and SERT (Suzuki Endurance Racing Team) have joined forces for a (sadly) French market-only Suzuki GSX-S1000 Race Edition.

The bike is the second bike this month to be announced across the channel featuring special graphics and parts after the V-Strom 800 DE Rally Edition was announced earlier this month. Like that bike, the newly annoucned GSX features a smattering of other upgrades to back-up the look of the bike and to boost its ability.

The GSX-S1000 Race Edition features a set of dedicated graphics to refresh the look of the bike, including race-inspired and SERT-branded decals. Elsewhere the Suzuki features a neat-looking tail-tidy and revised flyscreen, along with a different seat and seat cowl design. It also includes a track-day-ready brake lever guard from the good people at GB Racing. The updated machine is also lifted visually with the addition of red front brake calipers - something that I seem to remember being included on some of the press material for the GSX but sadly missing from the production model.

Sticker kits and racy brakes are good, but the main element that sets the GSX-S1000 Race Edition apart from the stock bike is the exhaust. On that front, the new SERT edition of the GSX is fitted with a slinky-looking Akrapovic exhaust system, something that should save a bit of weight and improve the sound of that 1,000cc inline four-cylinder screamer.

Sadly the kit is available from French dealers only, and comes in at €16,999 (£14,700) or around €3,500 (£3,000) more than the stock machine.
