Ducati are set to bring the DesertX to the UK for a week-long tour
Ducati’s adventure option will come to the UK on 12 May as part of a six-day tour of Britain in which it will be showcased in standard and rally trim.
A new star is coming to the UK as part of its European tour, but instead of arenas it will be filling dealers.
That is because Ducati is bringing its DesertX adventure bike to Britain on 12 May to start a six-day tour of the country.
Beginning at Ducati Oxford, the DesertX will pass through Ducati Aylesbury before eventually arriving at its finishing point at Moto Rapido in Winchester. Perhaps someone could sneak it off to Matterley Basin and put in a moto.
When it come to the UK, the DesertX will be displayed in either a standard trim, or with rally and off-road add-ons, including an auxiliary fuel tank; a fuel tank protector; headlight protector; rally seat; sump cover; radiator protector; steel-tubular engine protector; handguards; and finally a water sump protector.
With such a protection detail, local police might be wondering if they will be called on for an escort.
Nevertheless, the DesertX - complete with its own motorcycling equivalent of India’s Gwalior Fort - will make its way from Ducati dealer to Ducati dealer, rolling on its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, with aluminium panniers either side and a soundtrack provided by Ducati, in association with Termignoni who supply the exhaust.
The touring circus of DesertX will also exhibit the “DesertX dedicated capsule collection,” as Ducati have dubbed it in their press release announcing the tour. The collection will include trousers, jackets, jumpers and t-shirts for men and women.
