Ducati to put XDiavel engine into 2018 Multistrada

Ducati Multistrada 1260 planned

OFFICIAL emissions homologation documents from America prove that Ducati will update the Multistrada 1200 to become the Multistrada 1260 next year.

The paperwork from the California Air Resources Board shows that Ducati will be making three versions of the bike. There’s the Multistrada 1260, the Multistrada 1260 S and the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak.

All come with a 1262cc engine, the same size as the Testastretta DVT in the XDiavel cruiser. In that bike, the motor makes 152hp, but the emissions documents show the Multistrada version will be spewing out nearly twice the XDiavel’s emissions (hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide). More exhaust coming out means there’s more fuel going in, and that in turn points to more power.

The chances are that the Multistrada 1260 will be launched at EICMA in Milan later this year.
