Honda introduces new Rebel
A2-friendly custom powered by 500cc parallel-twin
HONDA has announced a new addition to its lineup for 2017 – the custom-style Rebel.
It’s powered by the 471cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine from the CB family, which has been retuned to give it increased bottom-end torque – just what you want in a cruiser.
That engine means the Rebel is available for A2 licence holders and with A2 friendly offerings in the naked, sports and adventure categories, it means that Honda has further widened its appeal to A2 riders.
The Rebel is built around a brand new tubular steel frame and its unfussy styling and fat Dunlop tyres give it something of a bobber feel.
Honda says that two of the key words running through the Rebel’s developments were ‘simple’ and ‘raw’ – hence the simple lines on the 11.2 litre tank and the fact that much of the bike is blacked out.
Elsewhere, there’s a shotgun-style exhaust, simple speedo with a backlit LCD display and of course, a single round headlight.
The Rebel shares its non-adjustable front fork with the other CB500s, while at the rear is a pair of preload adjustable shocks. Brake force at the front comes from a single two-piston caliper and 264mm disc.
Seat height is low, at 690mm and Honda quotes the Rebel’s kerb weight as 190kg.
It’ll be available in three colour options: ‘Graphite Black’, ‘Millennium Red’ and ‘Matte Armored Silver Metallic’.
Price and availability haven't been announced yet.
