Husqvarna 1301 revealed
KTM's 1290 Super Duke R morphs into a Husqvarna power-cruiser
IT’S given us the Vitpilen 701 and now Husqvarna’s formula of re-imagining a KTM has produced this, a 1290 Super Duke R-based power-cruiser.
Spotted being tested near KTM's headquarters in Austria, it appears to share major components with the 1290 Super Duke R including the main frame, single-sided swing-arm, brakes and wheels, as well as the 1301cc V-twin engine.
The styling, sub-frame, single-seat tail unit, handlebars, exhaust and overall look are new, creating a new riding position, leaning forward to clip-ons instead of sitting upright.
A new rear mudguard and number-plate hanger extends from the swing-arm instead of the tail unit while a size-able belly-pan has been added to the engine.
That V-twin plant will also have been tweaked to become compliant with the latest Euro 4 emission limits, something KTM has already done for Super Duke R-powered 1290 Super Duke GT.
The Husqvarna 1301 was spotted being tested along with an updated 1290 Super Duke R.
