Husqvarna Norden 901 confirmed for production in 2021
The Husqvarna 901 Norden is on its way to represent the Swedish firm's official entry into the lucrative adventure tourer market
The Husqvarna 901 Norden has been confirmed as entering production following its launch concept form at the 2019 EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
The machine, which is being developed on the platform of the KTM 890 Adventure, is set to represent the Swedish firm’s entry into the adventure tourer market with a launch date for the UK at least slated for 2021.
Though the 901 Norden was officially designated as a concept on its unveiling at EICMA, it is anticipated it will retain much of the prototype’s design, which blends Husqvarna’s signature styling traits into a more rugged package.
As such, expect to see the Svartpilen and Vitpilen-influenced smoked, circular headlamp, brushed metal plate finish around the engine casing and tinted windscreen to make it all the way to production, not to mention its grey, white and fluorescent green branding.
We’ll have to wait to see whether the endurance-racing style yellow quad-lights, black rims and make it through untouched…
Under the skin, the 901 Norden will be powered by the same 889.5cc parallel twin engine from the 890 Adventure. It has been tuned for adventure usage, as well as both on-road refinement and off-road capabilities, while Husqvarna also promises best-in-class lightness.
Husqvarna 901 Norden spurs on brand's ambitious growth
Husqvarna has been steadily bolstering its range away from its endure roots and the Norden 901 arguably represents its most ambitious project yet as it prepares to debut in the fiercely competitive – but lucrative – adventure tourer class.
While this has been made possible by Husqvarna’s relationship with KTM lending platforms, the Nordic firm has been busily establishing its own identity to help differentiate it from its Austrian cousins.
Indeed, Husqvarna is playing a significant role in KTM’s wider push globally, with new models on the way, new markets being entered – India before the end of the year – and new endeavours being pursued, namely a return to the circuit racing scene in the Moto3 World Championship.
