KTM 1390 Super Duke GT in the Works
The KTM 1390 Super Duke range is set to gain a GT model in the near future, as suggested by recently published spy photos
KTM’s new 1390 range will grow in the coming months, with a touring variant of its latest hyper-naked range.
The KTM LC8 engine grew at the end of 2023, becoming a 1,350cc V-twin to power a new range of 1390 Super Dukes (and probably Super Adventures in the future).
However, when the KTM 1390 Super Duke R and R Evo launched in the final part of 2023, there was an omission from the range: the GT, which stuck with its 1290 generation for the 2024 model year.
The Super Duke GT looks set to catch up with its (somehow) more aggressive siblings in the future, though, as spy shots published by the German publication Motorrad indicate a 1390 Super Duke GT could be just around the corner.

The photos show a KTM - distinguishable by the radical front styling that the Austrian brand adopted with its new-for-2024 models, in this case at the cost of the 1290 Super Duke GT’s protruding face - with the new 1,350cc V-twin, but with a number of additions to the specification that would allow this to be distinguished as a (hyper) tourer, rather than a hyper naked. Don’t doubt the ‘hyper’ bit, though - you can still expect the full 190bhp from the LC8 in GT spec.
As for the additions, there’s an opaque fly screen (which really doesn’t seem to fit with the new LED headlight arrangement KTM is going with now), while the bodywork at the front is more substantial for greater wind protection, and the whole bike has been raised a bit in comparison to the existing 1390 Super Dukes. Updating to 1390 also means the Super Duke GT will finally get an aluminium rear subframe - the latest 1290 GT remains with the old steel tubular design.
The brakes, too, are updated, with the 1390 Super Duke GT looking set to use the same radial Brembo setup as on the 1390 Super Duke R, from which it also takes the new single-sided swingarm.
Motorrad expects the KTM 1390 Super Duke GT will be launched for the 2025 model year, in which case we will see it in an official capacity by the end of 2024. As for the price, this is essentially a 1390 Super Duke R with added touring bits, so expecting it to be marketed for less than the Super Duke R’s £17,999 would be wishful.
