LiveWire S2 Mulholland Officially Revealed
The LiveWire S2 Mulholland has been officially revealed by the American electric specialist manufacturer, offering a new take on its platform
LiveWire is one of the few motorcycle manufacturers to combine an electric powertrain with performance equivalent to something more than a 125cc and with a specification that takes into account more than merely practicality. Its S2 Del Mar was the first bike on a new platform, and the second bike to use that platform has now been officially revealed: LiveWire S2 Mulholland.
The Mulholland shares most of its technical platform with the aforementioned S2 Del Mar, which was always the plan for LiveWire when designing the Del Mar, to make it a motorcycle that could be moulded effectively into different versions of itself to cater to different segments of the electric motorcycle market.
The Mulholland has taken the flat-track-inspired Del Mar and made something more cruiser-like. The front fork is more raked out, the seat is short-cut, and while the front wheel remains the same 19 inches as on the Del Mar, the rear is reduced to a 17-inch.
The weight of the Mulholland is down on the Del Mar from 198kg to 195kg, which probably goes some way to explaining the maximum claimed range increase from 113 miles on the S2DM to 121 miles on the S2MH despite the electric motor retaining the same power (40bhp continuous, 84bhp peak) and torque (194lb ft) outputs and the battery maintaining a 10.5kWh capacity.
In terms of cycle parts, the brakes are still from Brembo and the suspension from Showa. The cockpit includes a TFT display, and rider aids such as cornering ABS and traction control are featured as standard.
European pricing for the LiveWire S2 Mulholland hasn’t yet been announced, although we do know it will be available in three colours: Liquid Black and Red, Liquid Black and Black, and Lunar White and Grey. The US price is set at $15,999, while the Del Mar comes in at £16,990 in the UK.
