The MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5 has become one of the most anticipated adventure bikes in recent years, and its full reveal is set for the upcoming EICMA show in Milan.

Perhaps a lot of the anticipation that is surrounding the Lucky Explorer 9.5 comes from that MV Agusta is not necessarily the first brand you would most associate with adventure bikes, or off-roading at all.

Of course, the Lucky Explorer 9.5’s inspiration comes from the previous incarnation of what is now MV, that being Cagiva, which competed at the Dakar Rally with its Lucky-Strike-sponsored Elefant 900, winning the event with Edi Orioli in 1990.

The EICMA reveal, though, could be set to announce a renaming of the upcoming adventure bike. The ‘9.5’ will remain, but MV Agusta makes no mention of ‘Lucky Explorer’ in its press release confirming the bike’s appearance at EICMA. Instead, it only refers to the “9.5 project”, indicating that a change in name could be on the way.

MV will also display a number of other bikes at EICMA, although these have not been identified individually, and the 2023 edition of the Milan-based motorcycle show will be notable for it being the first appearance of the Italian brand at the show since the Pierer Mobility Group bought into it.

Timur Sardarov, CEO, MV Agusta Motor S.p.A., said: “Thanks to the collaboration with Pierer Mobility AG, Europe’s largest motorcycle producer, as a new, solid partner in our venture, we have grown stronger and expanded our operational capabilities. The road ahead is the most exciting we could dream of. MV Agusta, with its iconic models all produced in Italy, will continue to draw the undivided attention of public and critics. No doubt that once again, Motorcycle Art will be the talk of the show.”
