There are few images in motorcycle racing as synonymous as the great Giacomo Agostini reeling off his numerous victories and grand prix titles aboard a cowl-faired, red and silver MV Agusta.

The Italian is statistically the most successful motorcycle racer of all time with 15 motorcycle grand prix titles, eight of which were achieved at the highest level.

Of these, 13 were achieved on MV Agusta machinery across the 500cc and 350cc championships, among them a run of 38 500cc victories in a row.

It’s a heritage that is celebrated today in the ethos of the MV Agusta Superveloce, an 800cc sportsbike dressed in an evocative cafe racer-style appearance that owes much of its design traits to the motorcycles raced by Agostini in the 1960s and 1970s.

While the standard red and silver of the Superveloce is a nod to the past, MV Agusta has ramped up the homage for 2022 with the MV Agusta Superveloce Ago, unveiled by the man himself during this weekend’s Emilia Romagna MotoGP at Misano.

Completing a parade lap alongside MV Agusta’s Moto2 rider Simone Corsi, the Superveloce Ago echoes the paint job style of his famed race bikes, completed by his familiar yellow #1 plate on the fairing.

An exclusive special edition model, each is number between 1 and 15 to signify his world titles, plus a nod to his incredible 311 grand prix victories.

In addition to the triple-cylinder 798cc engine pumping out 147bhp, the MV Agusta Superveloce Ago comes with a racing kit of three-way Arrow exhaust silencer, control unit with racing mag, limited edition carbon plate, black leather tank strap, racing kit box and red handgrips.
