New Aprilia SR GT Replica adds MotoGP graphics to its urban scooter
A new 'replica' variant of the Aprilia SR GT scooter has been announced, and will be available in both the 125 and 200 variants of the scooter.
Aprilia has launched a new ‘replica’ edition of its SR GT 125/200 scooter, with graphics inspired by the Noale brand’s MotoGP team.
The Aprilia SR GT was originally unveiled at EICMA in 2021, and launched last year. The Piaggio Group which owns Aprilia is of course no stranger to scooters, with a range of its own as well as the famous Vespa name under its umbrella, but Aprilia’s identity as the ‘sporty’ brand among its Piaggio siblings was also apparent in the SR GT, thanks to its riding position, wide bars, wide-section tyres that allowed for light off-roading, and its angular visuals.
That ‘sporty’ character is further emphasised by the new graphics of the Replica edition, which are based on those run by the factory Aprilia team in MotoGP, which has won two of the last four Grands Prix with Aleix Espargaro in Britain and in Catalunya. That point of inspiration means a matte black base, with red and purple accents; as well as red highlights on the wheel rims, and an interrupted ‘Aprilia’ graphic on each side.
The SR GT Replica will be available in both 125 and 200 variants. The 125cc variant enters the top of its category in terms of performance, with 14.8bhp and 8.9lb ft. For the 200, there are 17.4bhp available, and 12.2lb ft. Both engines come from Piaggio’s i-Get range, and are Euro5-homologated.
