TRIUMPH today revealed the latest addition to the Bonneville range, a new Speedmaster based on the Bobber but with higher-spec components including brakes and suspension.

It uses the Bobber’s 1200cc ‘High-Torque’ version of the new Bonnie engine, in the same state of tune and producing the same peak figures of 77hp and 78lbft.

It also shares the Bobber’s hard-tail-style ‘swing-cage’- type swing-arm.

But it gets a pillion seat and grab-rail – both of which can be removed – plus a twin disc front brake set-up with Brembo calipers.

It’s also receives suspension upgrades, with a 41mm cartridge front forks offering 90mm travel and a monoshock offering 73mm of rear wheel travel and featuring a stepped preload adjuster.

It gets electronics from the Bobber, including riding modes, but also benefits from cruise control.

The riding position is feet-forward (with mid-centred pegs available as an option) and it gets an LED headlight with daytime running light.

The tank has been increased to 12 litres for greater touring potential, and it has swept-back 'beach' handlebars.

Triumph says it’s aimed at people who like the T120 but want more touring capability and cruiser styling – or a Bobber with more classic British styling detail.

As with other Bonnevilles, the firm showcased accessories with ‘Inspiration Kits’.

The ‘Highway Kit’ adds a tall screen, panniers and a pillion back-rest while the ‘Maverick Kit’ adds a flat handlebar and single seat for more of a Bobber look.

The new Speedmaster comes in ‘Jet Black’, ‘Cranberry Red’ or ‘Fusion White and Phantom Black’, with price and arrival date to be confirmed.
