Next-gen CFMoto NK roadster previewed with dramatic NK-C22 concept
The dramatic-looking CFMoto NK-C22 concept previews next generation CFMoto NK roadster as Chinese firm confirms ten new models coming in 12 months
CFMoto has presented a first look at the dramatic-looking NK-C22 concept to preview the upcoming replacement for its NK series roadster.
A year on from revealing its first ever concept motorcycle in the SR-C21, which went on to become the 450SR sportsbike, the NK-C22 has been unveiled both as a way of hinting at what the next generation NK will look like and to debut its C-LINK platform.
Just a day after Honda revealed at its annual conference it would be launching ten new electric models between now and 2025, as well as developing a connectivity network between them in the interests of improving safety and data transfer, CFMoto has done something very similar at its 2022 Autumn Strategy Conference.
While the NK-C22 was the headline revelation, CFMoto declared it would be launching ten new models in the next year alone - four of which will be electric powered - and initiating C-LINK, which will see its models communicate with one another through mechanical hardware and software.
However, it is the NK-C22 concept that drew most admiring glances with its aggressive-looking form that shows once more the Chinese firm - which recently also launched the new 700CL-X and 800MT ranges - is keen to develop its own style on familiar KTM platforms.
With a tapered, slender nose cowl dominated by an intricately styled ‘Y-shaped’ swept up headlight arrangement and diamond-like central spotlight, the profile bears a chunky fairing and a prominent bison hump.
Though likely to remain only concept-specific, the NK-C22’s striking and blunt dual SC Project tailpipes and propeller-style wheel covers give the motorcycle a look that bears some similarity to the MV Agusta Brutale.
As for what it is packing under that eye-catching skin isn’t so clear, though the current NK is available in 300 and 650 configurations, meaning a new generation version is likely to make use of the 450cc engine as found in the new 450SR and go up to either the 700cc engine from the CL-X, or borrow from the KTM parts bin for the 800cc (790) this time.
Alas, while the NK-C22 is another triumph in the concept styling department for CFMoto, it remains to be seen whether many of the traits will make it to production.
Indeed, the SR-C21 was similarly lauded for its break from Chinese tradition, only to be significantly watered down for the production 450SR.
