The return of BSA

CLASSIC British motorcycle marque BSA is set to make a comeback within two years after being purchased by Indian automotive giant Mahindra.

The president of Mahindra’s two-wheeler business, Rajesh Jejurikar, has said a new BSA product will be launched globally in 2018, according to the Hindustan Times.

Mahindra & Mahindra acquired 100% of BSA for £3.4 million through a subsidiary company, the car and motorcycle maker confirmed this week.

The firm has also acquired the rights to manufacture bikes bearing the historic Czech brand Jawa, and plans to produce one for sale in India within two years.

Mahindra is one of India’s biggest vehicle makers, and produces a range of small capacity bikes as well as racing in Moto3.

The firm’s executive director Pawan Goenka said: “Our plan is to focus more on the premium niche segment as we move forward.”
