Revamped Ducati Diavel coming soon

DUCATI’S Diavel might still seem fresh but it’s on the verge of its first facelift which is set to be revealed in just a few days’ time.

The facelift is known to include a new headlight, likely to feature LED technology, as well as new side panels, exhausts and indicators. That much was revealed in spy photos of the 2015 bike snapped last year. According to Diavel-forum.com users, Ducati dealers are telling customers the machine will be launched on March 3, suggesting it is being timed to coincide with the Geneva motor show. That's a car event, but one that Ducati’s owner Audi takes very seriously.

As well as the cosmetic changes, the bike is expected to get Ducati’s latest twin-spark engine, as used in the Multistrada and the new Monster 1200, although the Diavel version must be tuned for more power. The current single-plug version is already 12bhp stronger than the 150bhp Multistrada and 17bhp ahead of the 145bhp Monster 1200. With 162bhp from the existing Diavel, the 2015 machine must be approaching the 170bhp mark.

Sales of the new bike are expected to start in April, with prices slightly higher than the existing model, which starts from £14,995. Rumour has it that there will be three versions of the bike including a black ‘stealth’ model – similar to the existing Dark – and a high-end ‘carbon’ version.
