Special Suzuki GSX-R1000 coming
Suzuki Italy teases carbon-clad track bike
SUZUKI ITALY has published this picture of an all-carbon GSX-R1000R-based bike on its Facebook page along with the hashtags #spotted, #staytuned, #motogp and #2019.
What are we to make of it? Well, it looks like they’ve got a special GSX-R1000R, fitted with a carbon fairing, race-style screen and lever guards, and that it’s somehow set to be a 2019 model. The #motogp hashtag, along with the timing of the teaser, could well be a suggestion that the bike will be unveiled at the San Marino MotoGP at Misano this weekend.
Given that other firms have successfully sold expensive, high-end versions of their mass-made superbikes, ranging from the Yamaha R1M, Kawasaki ZX-10RR and Honda Fireblade SP2 right the way up to the £70,000 BMW HP4 Race and Ducati 1299 Superleggera, it’s not inconceivable that Suzuki has got ideas to get in on some of that action.
