Bell announces limited-edition Carlin Dunne motorcycle helmet
The helmet that Bell has released is a replica of Carlin Dunne’s helmet design that he used at Pikes Peak in 2018.
The limited-edition Carlin Dunne Race Star DLX Flex motorcycle helmet has been released in partnership with the Carlin Dunne Foundation and the Dunne family, to honour Carlin Dunne’s accomplishments as a motorbike racer.
Dunne tragically died taking part in the 2019 motorcycle element of the Pikes Peak event. Dunne had been a regular at Pikes Peak in the past and had taken victory four times in the past in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2018. Dunne had been a Ducati rider at Pikes Peak and in 2019 was taking part on board a prototype Ducati Streetfighter V4.
The limited-edition Carlin Dunne Race Star DLX Flex helmet has been designed to be as similar as possible to the design that Dunne used in 2018 when he claimed his fourth win at Pikes Peak.
SJ Owen, the marketing director of Bell, said this about the Carlin Dunne helmet: “The legacy left behind by Carlin Dunne speaks volumes for who he was as a racer and a person. We are thankful to pay our respects to Carlin with this special replica graphic designed by Carlin and AirTrix. The Carlin Dunne Foundation, created in Carlin’s memory is doing important work to continue his memory and empower and educate future action sports athletes. This is a special helmet to honour an exceptional competitor and person.”
Daniella Dunne, Carlin’s sister and the creator of the Carlin Dunne Foundation, said: “Carlin was a special person who lived life to the fullest. He wore Bell helmets throughout his motorcycle racing career and we’re happy to collaborate with Bell on this special project. Carlin truly loved helping others learn and the Carlin Dunne Foundation was created to continue that mission in his honour.”
The Carlin Dunne Race Star DLX Flex is available online and at Bell retailers and sells for $919.95 or £764.84.
