Brad Jones | BSB rider breathing without assistance, talking to family
BSB rookie Brad Jones is now out of his induced coma and talking with family, a month on from the accident at Brands Hatch that landed him in hospital
British Superbike Championship (BSB) rider Brad Jones is awake and talking with family and friends in hospital, just over a month on from the accident that left him unconscious.
The BSB rookie sustained a series of injuries after an accident at Clark Curve - the final right hand bend coming onto the home stretch - during the first race at Brands Hatch on July 24.
Airlifted to hospital, Jones was placed in an induced coma initially, but doctors confirmed he was being induced slowly to consciousness two weeks ago.
Now MSVR has put out an updated statement saying that though he remains confused he is speaking with family and friends.
“Brad Jones (iForce Lloyd & Jones BMW), who sustained injuries following an accident during the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship race on Saturday 24 July, remains in King’s College Hospital, London.
“He has now been moved from the Critical Care Unit and is on a ward.
“He is breathing without assistance, awake and can talk to his family visitors. Although he is still confused, this is improving.
“There are ongoing neurological assessments and Brad and his family are waiting for the results of the most recent scans to be able to start planning where he should transfer to for rehabilitation.
“Further information will continue to be provided when available.”
Jones - competing with the iForce Lloyd & Jones BMW team - is making his debut in the BSB this season after finishing runner-up to FS-3 Kawasaki’s Rory Skinner in the British Supersport Championship.
