Joan Mir to stay at Repsol Honda for 2024
Joan Mir has posted an image on his social media confirming he is staying with Repsol Honda for the 2024 season. The picture shows him and his 2023 teammate Marc Marquez, pushing some to speculate that this also means the #93 rider will stay with the team.
The post was shared on Mir’s Instagram channel around an hour ago, and simply reads '#SEQUEDA' which translates to ‘staying’. Interestingly, Mir has tagged his six-time champion in the post, pushing some spectators into speculating that this also means Marquez is set to stay with the Repsol team for 2023.
Adding to the furore is a tweet posted from the official Repsol Honda team Twitter (X) account which simply reads: ‘See you at 14:00 CET’. With Mir’s announcement already made public, many are pointing to the Repsol Honda tweet as something to do with Marc Marquez.
Marquez’ future has been the subject of much speculation in the last months, with a Honda that is miles off the front it’s not clear how much longer the Spanish superstar will remain within the Honda family. Reports have linked Marquez to both Ducati and KTM, although he has remained tight-lipped about his 2024 plans. He has also gone on record to say that the headlines and have been good for him, helping to pile the pressure on his struggling Honda team to pull their socks up and improve the bike.
We’ll be tuned in to the announcement at 14:00 CET (13:00 BST) and will update this page as it happens.
