John McPhee forced to miss Argentina MotoGP as injury persists
John McPhee will skip a second consecutive round of the 2022 Moto3 World Championship as he continues recovery from fractured vertebrae
John McPhee has confirmed he will be absent from the third round of the 2022 Moto3 World Championship in Argentina as he continues his recovery from two fractured vertebrae.
The Scotsman suffered an accident while MX training between the opening rounds in Qatar and Indonesia with the injury forcing him out of the latter, in turn becoming the first GP he has missed since his international debut in 2010.
Despite hopes of returning to the track for the third round at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit in southern Argentina, his Max Biaggi Racing Husqvarna team has since confirmed he will be forced to miss a second consecutive event in another blow to his Moto3 World Championship title ambitions.
“I worked every day with my physiotherapist, with the aim of returning for the Argentine Grand Prix. Unfortunately after a thorough examination, the doctors informed me that the fracture needs more time before it can be welded."
“We return to work with the intention of recovering for the grand prix that will take place in Texas the following weekend.”
While McPhee is targeting a return for Round 4 in the United States, he will only have a single week turnaround from Argentina in order to reach fitness.
“I’m very sorry I can’t race in Argentina, because I really love that track. I can’t wait to get back to Texas even harder.”
