Márquez brothers confirms split from manager Emilio Alzamora
Marc Márquez and Alex Marquez have split from manager Emilio Alzamora, who has presided over the brothers' ten GP world titles since 2005
Marc Marquez has confirmed a split from his manager Emilio Alzamora, concluding a working relationship that has stretched back to the beginning of his career.
125GP World Champion in 1999, Alzamora has been the guiding force behind both Marc and his brother Alex Marquez, taking on the elder of the siblings when he joined Monlau Competicion in 2005 to compete in the Spanish CEV series’.
However, the split between Alzamora and the Marquez brothers had been anticipated following his absence during recent events.
Making his 125GP debut in 2008, success came quickly for Marquez with a podium in only his sixth race at Donington Park, going on to win the first of eight world titles in 2010, before following it up with Moto2 title glory in 2012.
Going on to debut in the premier class, Marquez made history by winning the 2013 MotoGP World Championship in his rookie campaign, going on to win again in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Since then Marquez has been beset by injury woes and numerous surgeries, the latest of which currently sidelines him.
Alzamora has also played a key role in Alex Marquez’s career and presided over his two World Championships during the 2014 Moto3 and 2019 Moto2 seasons.
Jorge Martinez is strongly tipped to succeed Alzamora from the 2023 MotoGP season onwards when Marquez will line up with Repsol Honda again and Alex moves to Gresini Ducati.
