Ducati releases fresh imagery of the prototype electric sportsbike that will form the basis of its tender to supply the MotoE World Cup from 2023

Ducati has touted that ‘hard work is paying off’ as it continuous rigorous development of the fledgling electric sportsbike that will form the basis of the MotoE World Cup from 2023.

The Italian giants were announced as the surprise winners of the tender to be the control supplier for the electric MotoE World Cup, which supports the MotoGP World Championship at a selection of events.

The MotoE World Cup has utilised a racing version of the roadgoing Energica Ego sportsbike since its launch in 2019, but from 2023 Ducati will supply the field with a honed electric prototype for a four-year spell.

First unveiled undergoing initial testing in December, Ducati has now released a video showing the MotoE machine - codenamed V21L - lapping at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy with ex-MotoGP rider Alex de Angelis joining Ducati test rider Michele Pirro in the development ranks.

“Ever since we took the Ducati MotoE prototype to the track for the first time, development work on the project has never stopped, not even for a moment,” said Roberto Canè, Ducati eMobility Director

“The hard work of the whole team is paying off for the efforts made through continuous progress, which is giving us great satisfaction. 

“In just four months, our prototype has already tackled the curves of some of the main Italian circuits, providing positive responses. There is still a lot of work to do, but the direction is certainly the right one.”

MotoE’s fourth season - its final using the Energica platform - kicks off at Jerez on 30 April - 1 May.
