Roland Sands & Indian Announce Three New Custom Bikes in ‘Forged’ Season 2
Roland Sands will be building one of three new custom-built Indian Scouts, each of which will feature in the YouTube documentary ‘Forged’
Indian Motorcycle Europe has released the first episode of a new six-part YouTube documentary following Roland Sands as he builds a high-performance Indian Scout.
Season One of the documentary followed Carey Hart, Powerplant Motorcycles and Barnstorm Cycles, as they built and customised Indian Sport Chiefs. That series ended around a year ago, and the bikes have since been doing the rounds as custom bike events and shows. Now, though, Indian is looking to one of the biggest names in the custom biking scene to highlight one of its longest-running model names.
Sands gave up racing in 2005 and moved into building custom bikes, spinning off numerous clothing, riding kit and design brands on the way. Aside from the Teutuls, who were made famous by the TV show American Chopper, Sands is probably the closest thing to a household name in the custom bike-building world.
Sands specialises in high-performance bikes, and the inspiration for his Forged build came from Indian’s racing history (yep that really does exist) and Ed Kretz, most famous for winning the inaugural Daytona 200 on an Indian Scout. The Californian already has form with turning Indian’s V-twin bikes into high-performance racing machines, as he’s designed and built Indian FTR1200 racers that went on to compete in the AMA Super Hooligan class. Sands and his team have channelled that experience, and are building a bike that might be one of the best handling and fastest modern-day Scouts around.
There are two other builds to be revealed in Forged Season 2, with bikes from Brittney Olsen, a champion American racer, and in a first for Forged, a project from outside North America from the renowned Swedish builders, Unique Custom Cycles.
