New Yamaha WR125R arrives with updated engine tech
Yamaha has revealed its new 2026 WR125R bike which gets updated engine tech, although pricing has not yet been confirmed.

Yamaha has reintroduced its entry-level WR125R model, which now features the same Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system that’s found in the R125, MT125 and XSR125 models.
Yamaha says the new WR125R is designed for both trail riding and the road, and its liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine produces 14.8bhp at 10,000rpm and 8.3 Ib ft of torque at 6,500rpm.
The introduction of the VVA system allows the new WR125R to automatically switch between two intake cam profiles, which in turn allows it to deliver more power higher in the rev range.

Details of the bike’s price have not yet been revealed, however, we do know that it will be available in two colourways. They are ‘Icon Blue’ and ‘Yamaha Black’.
The bike will also be on display as part of Yamaha’s stand at the Motorcycle Live show in Birmingham, which takes place between 15-23 November.
The WR125R comprises a semi-double cradle frame, with suspension taken care of via 41mm KYB front forks and a preload adjustable monoshock at the rear. The new bike also gets a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel set up, while running on knobbly Dunlop D605 tyres.

The front brake caliper features single-channel ABS which bites down onto a 267mm disc, while a 220mm disc is found out back.
The WR125R also benefits from a rectangular LCD display, which can be paired to a smartphone via the Yamaha MyRide app. LED’s are used in both the headlight and the small position light that’s blended into the front fairing.
