The BMW S1000 RR and M1000 RR are two of the best superbikes you can buy today. But previously, there was another option from the German brand to get your litre-bike kicks.

The HP4 was brought out in 2013 as an even more focused version of the S1000 RR, but that’s not quite what we have to show you today. The machine on sale from The Bike Specialists in Sheffield is a brand new (1 mile) new/old stock BMW HP4 Race model, of which there were only 750 ever produced.

This stunning bike costs a whopping £48.899 and is not street-legal. The frame of the HP4 RACE is made of carbon fibre and compared to the standard platform, it saves a full four kilos in weight. For the BMW HP4 Race's tech, it's not only about silky-smooth looks, but also the characteristics. The bike is fully kitted out with Ohlins suspension on the front and rear, carbon wheels, beefier Brembo brakes and Pirelli race tyres. The example you see here is number 339 of 750.

This is what BMW had to say about its HP4 Race bike at the time of its release: “The HP4 RACE is more than the sum of its parts. This bike is pure emotion. From the development right up to the racetrack, passion is what has made this race bike what it is. Designed to push the limits. The HP bike was the first motorcycle in the world to offer a fully carbon frame and fully carbon wheels.

“With 215bhp of power, it weighs just 146 kilos (dry weight). A handmade dream come true for 750 enthusiasts. The HP4 Race is a masterpiece of engineering prowess. Each and every one of the 750 limited-edition racing machines was handmade by our specialists and fitted with a numbered sticker.”

The HP4 race is a formidable 999cc motorcycle that was considered so good in our review, that arguably nothing was better on the track than BMW’s track-only monster. Check out our review of the BMW HP4 Race here
