2021 Suzuki Hayabusa first impressions review and walkaround
We finally had the chance to try out the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa at the recent press launch, here’s a video on our first thoughts.
SUZUKI Hayabusa - a legendary name, one that’ll get ‘Busa boys (and girls) across the world excited at the mere glimmer of one going past, and we were at the UK press launch to test it out!
Starting at Sywell Aerodrome and riding around the local roads, we returned to have a go on the 1.5km runway, casually rocketing up to 180mph… just typical Tuesday stuff, really.
Before we give you the full review (coming very soon), we had a chance to film a quick walkaround the new Hayabusa for a quick rundown on how we found it on the roads.
What’s new for the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa?
Whilst the same layout as the previous Hayabusa, the 1,340cc engine produces 190ps (187bhp), 110lb-ft of torque, is Euro5 certified, is still brutally quick, and it’s glorious. Top end power has never been in question with a Hayabusa, though.
Suzuki has put in a lot of work boosting power and torque at the low and mid-range rpm, and the result is absolutely effortless overtaking when you need the power. You can be quite lazy too, and sit in near enough any gear whilst cruising.
Electronics have been looked at too, with a lovely TFT dash allowing you to adjust the user modes, power modes, traction control settings (amongst other Suzuki Intelligent Ride System features on the 6-axis IMU).
Ride comfort, it’s super comfortable to ride, the suspension is ‘magic carpet like’ on normal roads, and only gets a bit unsettled on the worst of surfaces. Long rides for a shorter rider may give a bit of a ‘Hayabusa hip’, as we describe it. Your legs splay out around the tank and it all gets a tiny bit unnatural for long periods of time.
But overall, we had a great time on the latest iteration of Hayabusa. You’ll have to keep your eyes peeled for the full review coming very soon - where we’ll go into a lot more detail! Plus the runway results…
The new Hayabusa will be available in authorised Suzuki dealerships in March 2021, with an RRP of £16,499.
